Attention: Parents, Guardians and Community Members: The South Shore Regional School Board and Autism Nova Scotia, South Shore Chapter are pleased to announce a presentation regarding a new program that the SSRSB is introducing at the Secondary Level called PEERS.
The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) was originally developed at UCLA by Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson, Founder and Director of the UCLA PEERS Clinic, and Dr. Fred Frankel in 2005 and has expanded to locations across the United States and the world. PEERS is a manualized, social skills training intervention for adolescents and young adults. It has a strong evidence-base for use with teens and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, but is also appropriate for teens and young adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other socio-emotional problems.
We would like to invite you to an evening presentation with Doctor Elizabeth Laugeson author of the PEERS Program from UCLA, California.
Date: Thursday, October 30th
Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Parents are the single greatest influence on their child's education and career decisions.
That's why the Department of Education offers Parents as Career Coaches, a program offered at no cost to parents and guardians of junior and senior high school students across Nova Scotia. This program equips parents to better support their children in making informed and successful education and career choices.
Senior High School Program
The two evening session helps parents understand the critical role they play in assisting their child to recognize their interests & unique talents.
The sessions also explore what employers consider to be critical skills, qualities, and attitudes required in today's and tomorrow' labour market.
When your children are getting ready to transition from high school to post-secondary or into the workforce, this program will help you and your child use career planning tools and explore opportunities that suit your child's interests and skills.
Park View Education Centre will host Senior High Sessions which take two evenings to complete.
Monday, November 3 and Wednesday, November 5, 2014
6:30 - 9:30 pm (each evening)
To sign up for workshops, visit www.parentsascareercoaches.ca
